Look what I found in Petaluma yesterday.

in the dark

Last week Miles took me to 'Scrap'- a junkyard meets craft store thrifting hybrid in Bayview. The place was amazing...walls of old National Geographics, crates of old 45's, canvas, yarn, old photos. wood, cloth, etc etc etc. While there I scored a handful of old photos as well as some super rad slides. I love this photo because its such a simple mess up with its bleached out tones and lack of focus. Ive also been really into the subtle overlapping of shapes and tones all around me, and though this isnt too subtle, it certainly has triangles and rectangles that carry over throughout the photo.
I just cant get over how much I love found photos. I plan on making this one into a birthday card, but first im going to use it to make a drawing in paint. Exciting!

pen pals and new cameras

The last two days have been perfect days off. Miles picked me up and old Canon A35-F at Community Thrift a couple days ago and I love it. Its just a simple little automatic camera, its light and fun and hopefully I got some good shots of people in the park and walking around and smelly things on 11th street.

I stopped by Little Otsu and The Curiosity Shoppe on my way to the movie store today and got two lovely cards for two of my loveliest pen pals. Both of these shops are full of so many inspiring things to mail your friends, lovers, grandparents....whoever!

(the pink envelope is full of vintage postage stamps...got that one at Curiosity Shoppe, the little ox is a Little Otsu product)

Wild Horses.

I found a photo album full of horse photos from the 70's. I think they are absolutely beautiful! I have been very inspired by the magic and warmth in these photos and plan on making many collages, post cards, birthday cards, and even masks out of them. I went through the album and picked out my favourites.
