This became Challah. It was my first attempt and Drew, fresh from the Czech Republic (kind of) taught me some tips so my next two loaves were pretty and golden with a firm and glossy eggwash. It was good bread. It was not vegan!

Vegan Caramel Apple Spice Cupcakes from Veganomicon.
I am just realizing that the 'caramel' color is super off. They were tasty though, like litte morsels of apple cake and sticky caramel with crunchy macadamias. I like to bake.

bread

White Sandwich Bread, Straight Up! I made bread. It took about 20 hours. I made a biga, which is a sort of starter for breads the night before and let it rise for about 15 hours. I then incorporated the gooey biga into the rest of the flour and water, with a little more yeast and salt. The bread had to rise two more times and bake for about 45 minutes. Its very dense with a moist crumb and a delicious, firm, golden crust. This is my 3rd attempt at bread baking and I'm getting really excited to rely on myself for all my bread needs.

I made Vegan Pecan Coconut Chocolate Chip Cookies. They ruled. And then I burnt the second batch and almost cried.

homebody

In an effort to cut down on the all night fucking non stop party thats consumed the last month or more of my life, I've put effort into my homebody skills. This includes making vegan chocolate cupcakes and buying pretty flowers, collecting weird branches for the house, and crocheting ropes to decorate with using the most brilliant wool yarn. Anyways, cupcake flowers flowers. Yarn ropes to come soon.

the FUTURE of BAKED GOOODS.

So, if you know me, you know I bake ALL THE TIME. Its an addiction. But I'm an addict for all the right things: sugar, sharing, experimenting, and making it all vegan. I made some really good cookies the other day from scratch, from a recipe I pulled out of my brain and it made me really inspired. If i can make the best vegan cookies I've ever tasted, whats to say I cant do more? With a little practice, and some serious kitchen time, I think I can create even more delicious Vegan Baked Goods. I know the world already has millions of vegan baked goods, but too be honest, I'm not happy with alot of them! So I am embarking on a new mission, one where I will create the most delicious and decadent vegan baked goods for the most special occasions and the most boring of days. Too begin this journey I just ordered alot of equipment and packaging supplies from Bake It Pretty.
I am so excited to make you guys treats and package them in fancy boxes with little bits of twine and vintage stickers!
One final note, Cupcakes are hot shit. Everyone loves them, and I do too! But I am so much more of a Pie Girl. I plan on making a huge variety of pies, scones, muffins, crumpets, bars, cookies, brownies, NOT JUST CUPCAKES. So be stoked on that. Plus, I'm gonna need hella testers. So get back at me!
Oh yes, I also plan on making some "healthier" but still so-so good treats. Im thinking thigns with medjool dates, applesauce, whole wheat flour, many nuts! You name it, lets bake it.

Vegan Pumpkin Cake with Pecan Steusel.

These are pecans!
This is pumpkin filling and dry goods. The batter was delightful.
This is an assembled cake, duh!!!
Fresh from the oven....
Fuckin' good!
My little kitchen.
My sleeping baby cat.

I've been feeling really bummed on photography lately, especially Polaroid. Not only does it suck ass that film is so expensive and hard to find, but half the time I get it its expired and looks like shit. I've also broke two sx-70's in two months while working on the parasitic twin project and I might be too broke to buy another. Bummer. I think I've buried myself in a weird creative rut, and instead of making art or taking photo's I've been reading too many zines and acting too domestic. I had the day off today and I baked this vegan cake- it was really fun and I had fun taking photos along the way. I'm hoping this creative slump will wear off, but until then, please enjoy the pleasantries.
