sin nombre

I saw this movie tonight, it was very real and intense and beautiful and also, frightening. You should see it. I hate how they have THEE "hollywood" voice in the trailer. The movie isnt like that.

On a lighter note...daily haiku coming soon!

elephants on parade

my face is frozen from the wind and im falling over everywhere. i cant stand alone i cant lay in bed i cant do anything because my mind is spinning and overloading and im going to melt. i dont know if its twenty two, i dont know if its the city or just me. im spending days in selfishness and solitude but im not ever alone. its the rising of the tides, i need to rely on my dreams.

growing old and growing tired and not growing at all

my camera shot up and off with no intention, capturing a stormy sky. i have to decide how to direct my life, the ways i am going right now are not working out to well.

broken hearts.

i am feeling so bittersweet about everything right now. i miss my friends, i miss my old homes, i miss my old town, but i dont want to go back. i want to grow and move forward, but i get so sappy and nostalgic for times ago- times when things were not so serious. when we all had more time, less money, less commitment, and more fun. i miss these people, these summers, backyard bbq's, face painting, drinking on rooftops, epic house parties, and living with your best friends. i need to move forward and make new memories, but its hard, and its winter, and im just plain woeful right now. things will get better, things are good, i need to be where i am, and im grateful for the change, but its hard sometimes.
i think i would feel alot better if i had a backyard, and if more of you sonoma county folk would just move to san francisco already. i need you guys here. i love you too much!

winter woes.

i hung up paper hearts and paper faces. some paper birds and one paper bear. i made freckles on my face and put a hat on alex. miles' photo looks really soft for some reason, its kind of blurred. i want to touch it.

this is me with out any neck. just a floating head, like in baron munchausen. i am a planet!

this is alex looking really warm.

i am not a fan of any of these photos, really. it was just a fun excersise to play with light and shadows in my kitchen. i havent felt exceptionally artistic or creative lately. i dont know what it is, ive been spending all my time reading books instead of being in the real world.
my friend tara and i are going to have a photo shoot in february. i have alot of good ideas and i think she will be an excellent model. she is kind of a cutie-bad ass.
i dont know why i take photos, i guess it is just fun for me.

winter hat/self portrait

when im vegan, i wonder if i will still wear this hat.

its winter.

its really, really cold. and it gets dark too early to take photos of anything! i went on a blustery walk today and drank hot coffee along the way. i stopped and took a silly photo of myself in front of a pretty colored garage. you cant see the pretty color because i dont ever remember to take the flash off my polaroid before i use it.
in other news, i hope to start working on a photo project that ive been meaning to do. i learned how to scan negatives so i think i will be working with film for this next project. film, or miles' fancy camera. (if he lets me!)
here is a silly polaroid.
more photos later, maybe. im going to make a bomb lunch. if theres enough light i will have photos.

this photo is from the "circus" themed shoot i did with alex and kathleen a few months ago. for some reason i get a sad, slightly holiday inspired feeling from this photo and it is perfect for summing up what this day has become.

Vegan Pumpkin Cake with Pecan Steusel.

These are pecans!
This is pumpkin filling and dry goods. The batter was delightful.
This is an assembled cake, duh!!!
Fresh from the oven....
Fuckin' good!
My little kitchen.
My sleeping baby cat.

I've been feeling really bummed on photography lately, especially Polaroid. Not only does it suck ass that film is so expensive and hard to find, but half the time I get it its expired and looks like shit. I've also broke two sx-70's in two months while working on the parasitic twin project and I might be too broke to buy another. Bummer. I think I've buried myself in a weird creative rut, and instead of making art or taking photo's I've been reading too many zines and acting too domestic. I had the day off today and I baked this vegan cake- it was really fun and I had fun taking photos along the way. I'm hoping this creative slump will wear off, but until then, please enjoy the pleasantries.

blues.

This photo of Kathleen was too dark to use. It was too dark and when I messed with it in photoshop all i could do was lighten it to see the actual image. Before I lightened it there was nothing there, just a shadow of a girl sitting in a chair with a mask on. I like the way it looks, it doesn't look professional, it doesn't look clean. It looks amateur and gritty. I think that's what I am, I do not have skills, I do not have knowledge, I just have my eyes to tell me what looks new and what looks good. I think Kathleen is a good model, don't you?
