MY LOVE FOR YOU

Remember the show at Needles and Pens I was going to a few Saturdays back? Well, it was amazing and it was curated by Meighan O'Toole from my favourite blog "My Love for You is a Stampede of Horses". As I was checking the blog this morning I found a photo of myself and my girl Tara at the show. It made me kind of giddy to be on my favourite blog even though I'm just drinking a tall can....anyways...check it out.
I need to post some serious shit, soon. Im working some hellish 9 day work weeks, but I will be back.

You've Got Light in Your Eyes

For the past few weeks, I have been a dedicated follower of the blog "My Love for You is a Stampede of Horses". Its an amazingly inspirational, thorough and exciting blog featuring artists from all around the country. The blog highlights art shows, artist interviews, and alot of Bay Area work.
When I found out that blog founder Meighan O'Toole was curating a show at Needles And Pens (a mere 2 BLOCKS FROM MY HOME!) I was ecstatic! The show is called "You've Got Light in Your Eyes" and it premiers tomorrow night. Lucky for me, I'm off work at 7 and will be heading straight to the show! If you get a chance to check it out, I strongly advise doing so. The artists that Meighan are featuring are unbelievable...sculptors, painters, drawers, etc. I feel so lucky to have this work so close to my house, and at one of my favourite shops. Its practically making me giddy!

a few of my favourite things

okay, time for another "cool shit on the internet" post- only until I get film devleoped to share...

I stumbled across this london based tattooo artist on flickr...
I have never seen tattoos that look like this. They are dreams and nightmares, they are cartoony and traditional and scary and amazing. I only wish I could fly to London for some tattoos! (images from Liam's flickr)

I also stumbled upon Herbert Pfostl's Paper Graveyard. I spent hours looking at his work last night and I think its incredible. Its haunting and intuitive almost, its also very chillike and deranged which I love. Its so rad to find things on the internet that are inspiring and new. (image below from PaperGraveyard.Blogspot.com)

Also, Miles, my handsome and talented boyfriend has been taking the most incredible photos. I got a sneak peak at some new work he took last night, and its amazing. His work is often post-apocalyptic and eerie to me but very real. He has a blog he updates pretty regularly...look for a new post soon!(image from Miles' flickr....but also check out his blog!)

It looks like i've been really inspired by doomy things and mystical childlike demented things lately. I think this is good as I've started drawing and painting my dreams and alot of them require a creepy and ethereal touch.
Anyways,
tonight I am taking photos at Triple Crown for Wigwam, so if you find yourselves in the area, come by! Also, hopefully I will have interesting photos or drawings to post soon.
I really want to get more shit done.

the FUTURE of BAKED GOOODS.

So, if you know me, you know I bake ALL THE TIME. Its an addiction. But I'm an addict for all the right things: sugar, sharing, experimenting, and making it all vegan. I made some really good cookies the other day from scratch, from a recipe I pulled out of my brain and it made me really inspired. If i can make the best vegan cookies I've ever tasted, whats to say I cant do more? With a little practice, and some serious kitchen time, I think I can create even more delicious Vegan Baked Goods. I know the world already has millions of vegan baked goods, but too be honest, I'm not happy with alot of them! So I am embarking on a new mission, one where I will create the most delicious and decadent vegan baked goods for the most special occasions and the most boring of days. Too begin this journey I just ordered alot of equipment and packaging supplies from Bake It Pretty.
I am so excited to make you guys treats and package them in fancy boxes with little bits of twine and vintage stickers!
One final note, Cupcakes are hot shit. Everyone loves them, and I do too! But I am so much more of a Pie Girl. I plan on making a huge variety of pies, scones, muffins, crumpets, bars, cookies, brownies, NOT JUST CUPCAKES. So be stoked on that. Plus, I'm gonna need hella testers. So get back at me!
Oh yes, I also plan on making some "healthier" but still so-so good treats. Im thinking thigns with medjool dates, applesauce, whole wheat flour, many nuts! You name it, lets bake it.

lazy lazy thursday

I spent just about 6 hours in the park today. My arms have color and I smell like sun and grass and maybe a little bit like tecate.
Also, I found this photographer on the internet today, and Im really into alot of the portraits, especially the little kids ones.
And I want every kitchen item from here.

Now its time to draw, time to make dinner, time to tend to the little cat.
And maybe I will dye my locks?

there is still good to be found on the internet!

What if Space Jam, Shaun of the Dead, and Mean Girls were all sci-fi books in the 60's? What would their book covers look like? I found an amazing collection of these book covers from the series "I Can Read Movies" here, complete with worn edges and watermarks.
