from the vault.

a long time ago I took polaroid portraits of my friends. I have since broke two sx-70's and am no longer able to take such crisp polaroids. anyways, these are two of my favourite portraits i took. its so strange how the colors in each one are so different. using mostly expired 600 film with an sx-70 is always a gamble, sometimes the colors look dreamy or bitter, sometimes they look pretty true (as Cory's does.) I hope that with christmas coming up I will maybe get some money to buy another sx-70!

Miriam Gorciak Brummel is another year older!

Today is Miriam Brummel's birthday and I am so fuckin excited! Miriam is one of my closest friends and when we party together absolute mayhem ensues. Miriam has a big heart which she fills with Mariah Carey, Crushes, Taking photos, and being a great fucking pal. One time Miriam took me to L.A. and showed me around her home turf. Her mom bought us tickets to Disneyland and we drank wine coolers and smirnoff ice on the Donald Duck level of the parking garage. This was after Miriam broke a mini bottle of wine at the convenience store, oops.
These are some of my favourite polaroids of Miriam in all her glory and love.
I love you girl! Happy Birthday!
Dont go Chasin Waterfalls!

I need real equipment.

Today my friend Drew came over and we had an impromptu photo shoot. Now, I am seriously thinking about investing in some legit lights and backdrops, but for now we had Miles flash, tripod, and a painted wall as our backdrop. I changed most of these into black and white because the flash glare off my mellow yellow walls was not too pretty. Drew is a handsome baby and more shots of him will be seen as he is going to be a model for my future masks.

This is Drew as Pete Doherty. Haw.

This is Drew making the worst face of all time.

This is Drew before he cut his golden locks.

The Right Light

Its been brought to my attention that I take alot of Portraits. They are not professional, they are not perfect, but they are the photos I adore the most. I feel like portraits of any sort are really special. Its a chance to just be one on one with the camera, and its fun. With the sx-70, portraits are always hit or miss. It really depends on the natural light because the color balance for the film is all backwards. I took this portrait of Miles as a tester for the wedding portraits I shot, and I took the one of Alex while we were in Chinatown on a very cloudy adventure. As you can see, both of their faces are blown out, but I dont mind so much, I think they look handsome and different than normal which leads me to really scrutinize the emotion or lack of in the photo.

1251 Marian Way

Marian Way is a place for goodness. It is a beautiful little Petaluma house full of gorgeous people, fine cooks, backyard benches, a deck, kittens and boys who just turned twenty-one and tend to run around the yard, naked. The lovely residents of Marian Way put together an outdoor summery dinner party last night that was uh-mazing. We had vegan pizza, lasagna, salad, beer, wine, yum! Many people came out for the affair and I took some Polaroids and digital photos of the dinner. Marian Way will forever hold my heart, I just cant seem to get enough of that backyard and all the fine ass people who live there!
