distractions!

The next week or so will be pretty slow in the blogging sphere- I am moving into a beautiful castle on June 1st and im horribly behind on my packing and cleaning! But, while I was packing up my polaroids I found a few that I thought were especially nice...almost all of these were taken with my sx-70 which has got me longing for one again...I still can't believe i broke TWO in SIX months. BUNK!
Anyways, goodbye blogging world, atleast for the next week and a half!!!

You've Got Light in Your Eyes

For the past few weeks, I have been a dedicated follower of the blog "My Love for You is a Stampede of Horses". Its an amazingly inspirational, thorough and exciting blog featuring artists from all around the country. The blog highlights art shows, artist interviews, and alot of Bay Area work.
When I found out that blog founder Meighan O'Toole was curating a show at Needles And Pens (a mere 2 BLOCKS FROM MY HOME!) I was ecstatic! The show is called "You've Got Light in Your Eyes" and it premiers tomorrow night. Lucky for me, I'm off work at 7 and will be heading straight to the show! If you get a chance to check it out, I strongly advise doing so. The artists that Meighan are featuring are unbelievable...sculptors, painters, drawers, etc. I feel so lucky to have this work so close to my house, and at one of my favourite shops. Its practically making me giddy!

free things and color coded books.

Today I cleaned out things and color-coded my bookcase.
The above boots, shoes and shirt are all for freeeee!
The boots are super rad granny boots sz 9-9.5
the flats are pretty much brand new, leather, size 10.
and the JP designed tank top is super hot, just doesnt fit me right. I tried to make it work, but its not lookin' good on me, so it will probably look good on you? its marked as being a size L, but i think its closer to being a medium.
anyways, get it while its hot.

Expired! Expired! Read All About It!

Expired film is a bitch. Sometimes it shows you magical colors. Sometimes it makes your hot and sexy friends look like grandparents. Sometimes it doesnt matter because its still a polaroid and you love it. So, if expired film is so difficult, why do I use it? Its cheaper and its a gamble. Duh.

Sleepy and Quiet and Foggy and Cold.

I fell off my bike on Friday and since then, haven't had much use of my right hand. As I am a right handed lady, this has left me quite motionless in the creativity department. I've been spending too much time pawning over Whale Watching trips and the grand opening of the California Academy of Science building in Golden Gate. I'm a total nerd. I thought I would post some pretty photos I took prior to injuring this blasphemous hand of mine, enjoy.

Picture 1&2: My friends have a gorgeous house.
Picture 2: I have a shark tattoo thats hard to photograph.
Picture 3: Kathleen the Queen as a Monkey Man. Photoshopped.

pretty things.

Sometimes you spend all morning lurking on the internet and you find a photo that makes you happy and inspired and excited for your day. I found this photo by ponygraph and I think its quite wonderful.

Chinatown

I rarely venture to Chinatown. When I do, I bring my camera.

Gold Spandex Pants

I know this has nothing to do with photo's per se, but i found great fuckin inspiration in this Iowan.

Hair Bow.

Today I wore a large bow in my hair and took a walk. I passed my favorite house on Clinton Park. It is so windy out! It feels like December, NOT, August! People are warning me that August is colder than the winter months in San Francisco. Is this true? I'm not buying it, where is Indian Summer?! I have the next two days off after seven long days of work. I will die if the sun doesn't come out atleast once!

Starwash

Today was laundry day. I decided to try out a new laundromat because the one near my house is infested with Frito Chip eating men who wont stop harassing you until you leave with your soggy clothes. The New laundromat, "Starwash" was painted a delicious aquamarine color and came fully equipped with Director's chairs and Bollywood poster art. I found this flower plant on my walk home and it brightened my day. Oh how I love the simpler things.

paper goat mask pt. 1

I made a goat mask out of paper bits, hot glue, and feathers. Chris modeled the mask. IT is quite colorful in person but I think I like the black and white better as it accentuates the goat like features. More to come. If you wanna model let me know, I need some people who will get nude and wear miniature forest masks.

Inspiration! Life Changing Comix!

I forgot to mention that Chris and I went to Pens and Needles (on 16th between Guerrero and Delores)and Chris bought "a life changing comic" called Sof' Boy!
It has inspired us to spend the rest of the afternoon drawing, and Chris thinks that if you read this comic your life will be changed. So check it out!
Here is the cover of the issue we bought, as well as a splendid frame from inside.
Weee.

Days Off Rule.

I walked around my neighborhood today and these are some of the things I saw; a magic bus and a little old man boy.

The Right Light

Its been brought to my attention that I take alot of Portraits. They are not professional, they are not perfect, but they are the photos I adore the most. I feel like portraits of any sort are really special. Its a chance to just be one on one with the camera, and its fun. With the sx-70, portraits are always hit or miss. It really depends on the natural light because the color balance for the film is all backwards. I took this portrait of Miles as a tester for the wedding portraits I shot, and I took the one of Alex while we were in Chinatown on a very cloudy adventure. As you can see, both of their faces are blown out, but I dont mind so much, I think they look handsome and different than normal which leads me to really scrutinize the emotion or lack of in the photo.

Favorites.

These are some of my favorite Polaroids, ever. I found them while rifling through 1,500 Polaroids in shoe boxes as I searched for the most handsome shots of my dear friend Alex, who is having a birthday very soon. It is late and I need to crawl into my bed and dream of schemes to get cheap Polaroid film, quick.

Solstice

Last night was the summer solstice, I think. Ha!
I am too lazy to look up if it was, but the park was full to the brim at 2 a.m. and spirits were high, luck was had, and old friends came out for tequila and fancy dinner. This post is dedicated to Carissa Clay: she is a punk zombie sanguenetty, wake up!
I think summer is a supreme season for friends and late nights.

Heat Waves

With weather this nice two things are bound to happen:
1) My bank account dwindles to Nada due to the excess of beer and sandwiches I've been buying for trips to the park and....
2) I've taken far too many photos of sweaty friends.

All is well on the home front though, I am reading huge amounts of books and zines and dying for new music. Any suggestions? Please shoot them my way!

And Lastly, Miles cut a moustache into his face. He looks like this now, forever.
