foraging/grey worlds/crab and ship graveyard

It was so grey that every piece of color in the world stood out. I stumbled upon a crab graveyard that was swimming with exoskeletons of sea beatles and plenty of fish vertabrae and bone fragments, we even found a sort of femur-ish looking bone. There were two dead birds at the entrance to the beach, and when the sun came out I saw two birds dancing in the little waves, but I dont think it was a dance so much as mercury poisoning or a defect from something. They were alien birds, three eyes birds, or maybe three winged? in all sincerity they couldnt move correctly and a dog tried to eat them, it was horrible. But the beach itself was calm and so grey and pretty magnificent, I think I tainted the purity of it all with my 32 oz of MILLER HIGH LIFE. But what could I have done? The champagne of beer was beckoning.
This is expired film, 600, excellent photo conditions with the grey and the bright light and the fog diffusers. It was misting heavily and you can see beads of dew on Miles' mustache and hairs. A girl made GOLD out of kelp, a crab died, the sea and the sky were the same.

listen up!

I came across Meryl Smith's blog tonight. Check it out here. Its pretty amazing and very strange, I really like how she uses basic materials, (like gauze, above) and creates these fanciful and bizzare objects.

When Miles and I were in Portland we went to Pistil, a nursery which was recommended to us by Jessie-Mae. It was a cozy little place and we got many new plants for home. These were the three I picked out.

Lana and I had an exhausting photo shoot today. Look for the photos tomorrow. We made clouds for the set!

The Universe.

The last one was not taken in Black and White. It was really over exposed and I thought it looked better in Black and White. If B&W polaroid film wasnt so damn hard to find and expensive, I would shoot primarily in it! I used photoshop to take some of the yellow out of the expired film photos. Two of the photos were taken with new film, and were not adjusted. Its crazy how different the feel is with expired film.

Also, I am still looking for models to do some of these double exposure shoots. Let me know if you are interested! Thanks to those of you who are reading/looking at my blog, I really appreciate it!

Brian Henderson Made A Book!

If you are in the area I strongly suggest you make some time to go to this event. I am hoping I can catch a ride from SF to go, alot of people have been looking forward to seeing this book for years! It's going to be awesome and creepy and possibly a little scary. Yum.

crowbar

Today I received a postcard from a badass named Dan "the crowbar" Cronin. He is moving to Portland soon in search of cheaper rent and new possibilities. Dan is one of my biggest inspirations in terms of photography- he takes amazing photos of places all around the world. I was able to take his portrait last summer and its one of my favorites.
Check out Dan's photos here.
