seventy five dollars=my heart

once again i am completely head over heels smitten with forestbound.
this cow tooth bronzed necklace is completely perfect.
now if only an extra seventy-five flew into my bank account...(image from forestbound)

she cant move to chicago.

I never grow tired of pops. even with a shitty DJ-how can you beat a photobooth, a no-line bathroom and two dollar beers? Sometimes the dj will pretend to play your requests but as Tara and I learned last night, you most likely have to be a total skank and kiss the DJ and buy him beers to hear your favourites. Anyways, Tara wants to move to Chicago, but I think she should stay!
And we should go to POPSSSSSSS more often!

monsters in the way

Hey!
So, there are some big changes happening.
First, I am taking photos at a dance party at Triple Crown called "Wigwam". Friday April 3rd. I will post more info when it gets closer, but mark your calenders and come visit me, get your photo taken, all that good stuff!
Second, Miles is a sweetheart and is going to be re-doing the whole blog layout for me. I am really excited.
Third, I am going to start working on a new photo project and I need a little help. If anyone wants to make paper chains, let me know. Miriam had a brilliant idea to mail people pre-cut paper strips and hope that they will make paper chains from them that I can later pick up. If you are at all interested in making paper chains let me know, I will mail you some strips, and hopefully pick them up in a couple weeks.
Lastly, I really want to photograph you and your dad. If you think that you are interested let me know. I know alot of people dont have dads, but if you have a fake dad, or something like that, let me know.

Thankssssss!

pen pals and new cameras

The last two days have been perfect days off. Miles picked me up and old Canon A35-F at Community Thrift a couple days ago and I love it. Its just a simple little automatic camera, its light and fun and hopefully I got some good shots of people in the park and walking around and smelly things on 11th street.

I stopped by Little Otsu and The Curiosity Shoppe on my way to the movie store today and got two lovely cards for two of my loveliest pen pals. Both of these shops are full of so many inspiring things to mail your friends, lovers, grandparents....whoever!

(the pink envelope is full of vintage postage stamps...got that one at Curiosity Shoppe, the little ox is a Little Otsu product)

Camera Obscura

Yesterday Miles, Drew, and myself went about the process of turning our apartment into a camera obscura. It was Miles' idea, and with his guidance we were able to succesfully do it- and it was so amazing!!! Definitely one of the coolest things I've ever been a part of making. We covered every window in our house with layers of garbage bags, blocking out as much light as possible. Miles made a small, penny sized hole in one of the bags in the main room, he made a little lense using a straw, and his ear plug, and he was able to direct the light/image and focus it a little bit more onto our walls. It was an awesome experience, we all sat back on the bed and just watched cars, people, and bicyclist go by. It was awesome to see the wind blowing trees around and try and figure out what buildings we were looking at, and what signs, since everything was upside down. I took a few photos of the process, and Miles took a couple long exposures of the images being projected on the walls. They arent super crisp, but you get the idea. Just imagine being in a very, very dark room at 2p.m. and watching the world go by, upside down, on your living room walls. So rad!!!

the FUTURE of BAKED GOOODS.

So, if you know me, you know I bake ALL THE TIME. Its an addiction. But I'm an addict for all the right things: sugar, sharing, experimenting, and making it all vegan. I made some really good cookies the other day from scratch, from a recipe I pulled out of my brain and it made me really inspired. If i can make the best vegan cookies I've ever tasted, whats to say I cant do more? With a little practice, and some serious kitchen time, I think I can create even more delicious Vegan Baked Goods. I know the world already has millions of vegan baked goods, but too be honest, I'm not happy with alot of them! So I am embarking on a new mission, one where I will create the most delicious and decadent vegan baked goods for the most special occasions and the most boring of days. Too begin this journey I just ordered alot of equipment and packaging supplies from Bake It Pretty.
I am so excited to make you guys treats and package them in fancy boxes with little bits of twine and vintage stickers!
One final note, Cupcakes are hot shit. Everyone loves them, and I do too! But I am so much more of a Pie Girl. I plan on making a huge variety of pies, scones, muffins, crumpets, bars, cookies, brownies, NOT JUST CUPCAKES. So be stoked on that. Plus, I'm gonna need hella testers. So get back at me!
Oh yes, I also plan on making some "healthier" but still so-so good treats. Im thinking thigns with medjool dates, applesauce, whole wheat flour, many nuts! You name it, lets bake it.

lazy lazy thursday

I spent just about 6 hours in the park today. My arms have color and I smell like sun and grass and maybe a little bit like tecate.
Also, I found this photographer on the internet today, and Im really into alot of the portraits, especially the little kids ones.
And I want every kitchen item from here.

Now its time to draw, time to make dinner, time to tend to the little cat.
And maybe I will dye my locks?

celebrations

Holland had a birthday. I took many photos, few of which are any good. I was too drunk and having flash issues. Anyways, I posted many of them on facebook, but here are the ones that I really liked. The birthday party was excellent, but as I was as obnoxious as ever. I guess thats too be expected, but I'm still embarassed.

covet covet covet

I want everything from ForestBound. The lace, the canvas, the ingenuity of the entire operation is completely dreamy. I want to be next door neighbors with this girl, hire her for sewing lessons. What can I say? I'm totally smitten.

growing old and growing tired and not growing at all

my camera shot up and off with no intention, capturing a stormy sky. i have to decide how to direct my life, the ways i am going right now are not working out to well.

astro pop, a bang bang.

yesterday we pretended it was july. we tried to BBQ, we rolled in grass, we drank beers and had many laughs. it was so warm and wonderful on that backyard deck. petaluma, why must you be so secretely alluring? with your green fields and real life birds?

Saturday, March 7

tara, pj, and i.

last night we listened to punk rock and drank lots of beer. we ate falafel (again!) and tara made candy cheeks and for a minute we had 90's bangs and sweet homemade rap beats. oh yeah, we also tried to be a totem pole, too!
