200th POST

what have I blogged about for the last year??
polaroids, birthdays, parties, cooking, haiku's, adventures....whats to come in the future?? Hopefully some more decent art, and not just MS paint drawings, but i am so fond of that little program....
Here is a drawing for all the people in the world who fear getting old...it's my top fear and I hope it doesnt happen to me for a very long time. I cry on my birthday every year, and though the big 2-3 isnt until November, I am still scared!

distractions!

The next week or so will be pretty slow in the blogging sphere- I am moving into a beautiful castle on June 1st and im horribly behind on my packing and cleaning! But, while I was packing up my polaroids I found a few that I thought were especially nice...almost all of these were taken with my sx-70 which has got me longing for one again...I still can't believe i broke TWO in SIX months. BUNK!
Anyways, goodbye blogging world, atleast for the next week and a half!!!

lying

Last night I rented the film "lying". Chloe Sevigny, Jena Malone, and a weekend of pathological lying in the woods... It was an okay film, I enjoyed the slow pace and visually it was quite beautiful but it lacked some needed dialogue/plot. ANYWAYS. All the girls in the film had beautiful hairs and beautiful clothes and it made me lust for a weekend in the woods and a beautiful old house where I could braid my hair and drink wine and take early morning walks.

jelly pies

I was kind of excited about the background on this little haiku. Unfortunetly I went a little crazy on the jelly and the sea beast and its slightly janky now, but It is still pretty and full of oceanic shapes.

I hope to develop some negatives today. Maybe some photos will follow.

Haiku number Five:
jelly pie thread legs
sea beast sweet feat oxygen
ocean shapes waves

sin nombre

I saw this movie tonight, it was very real and intense and beautiful and also, frightening. You should see it. I hate how they have THEE "hollywood" voice in the trailer. The movie isnt like that.

On a lighter note...daily haiku coming soon!

STUDIES.

Recent and somewhat random finds.
The antlers were found at a thrift store in Vallejo (30% off day!) They are very small and the skull has many seams in it.
The shell is a normal sort of beach-shell except it looks like an ear.
And lastly, my fish vertabrae. It is yellowing as it dries in the sun. Its stinky and I love it.

I dont have a backdrop or heavy cloth really, I used an old sweatshirt and a lamp to take these photos.

As usual, there are more on my FLICKR

cousteau haiku

Today I went to Vallejo and found so much loot. I got Cousteau's "The Ocean World" as well as many more books, shoes, and a point and shoot medium format camera. I decided that todays haiku would play tribute to Cousteau. I drew the fish spines with pencil and scanned it and fucked with it in paint. Fun.

MY LOVE FOR YOU

Remember the show at Needles and Pens I was going to a few Saturdays back? Well, it was amazing and it was curated by Meighan O'Toole from my favourite blog "My Love for You is a Stampede of Horses". As I was checking the blog this morning I found a photo of myself and my girl Tara at the show. It made me kind of giddy to be on my favourite blog even though I'm just drinking a tall can....anyways...check it out.
I need to post some serious shit, soon. Im working some hellish 9 day work weeks, but I will be back.

foraging/grey worlds/crab and ship graveyard

It was so grey that every piece of color in the world stood out. I stumbled upon a crab graveyard that was swimming with exoskeletons of sea beatles and plenty of fish vertabrae and bone fragments, we even found a sort of femur-ish looking bone. There were two dead birds at the entrance to the beach, and when the sun came out I saw two birds dancing in the little waves, but I dont think it was a dance so much as mercury poisoning or a defect from something. They were alien birds, three eyes birds, or maybe three winged? in all sincerity they couldnt move correctly and a dog tried to eat them, it was horrible. But the beach itself was calm and so grey and pretty magnificent, I think I tainted the purity of it all with my 32 oz of MILLER HIGH LIFE. But what could I have done? The champagne of beer was beckoning.
This is expired film, 600, excellent photo conditions with the grey and the bright light and the fog diffusers. It was misting heavily and you can see beads of dew on Miles' mustache and hairs. A girl made GOLD out of kelp, a crab died, the sea and the sky were the same.

Passport?

Another found photo. Actually, its kind of a stolen photo. It was in the lost and found drawer at work for a really long time and I decided its fate was better than a garbage can. It looks like a passport photo, or maybe just a childs class photo. I wonder when it was taken, and how it ended up on the floor of Whole Foods.

three blind mice.

I was at a party on Saturday night. One of those parties where everyone is beautiful and full of goodness. The kind of party where people are running around giving hugs and singing songs. It was really good. Caitlin turned 22, everyone was fancy and gorgeous as usual, I took a couple photos, but something happened and I got too wasted (?) to care about snapping photos, all I wanted to do was sing "three blind mice" and tell people that I loved them. Here are a few of my favourites...you can find the rest of the set on the flickr.

everyday learning more;

One of the great things about art, to me, is the fact that every day I am learning more. I have many interests, but at this junction I am good at none of them. Thats when our friend trial and error comes into play. I can fuck around with a cheap canon, I can crochet foreign objects to my hearts content, and I can dream like I've never dreamt before. Everyday I try to get just a little bit better at what I'm doing, and I hope after a few years and much time, I will be good enough at atleast one of the things I love so much. So, here are some photos I took. They are neither horrible nor wonderful, but they are progress, and that has to count for something, right? Im trying, a heartfelt fucking PUSH at trying, which is something. Growing learning, loving, fucking up, im into all of it. For the rest of this mangled set, check the flickr page.

homebody

In an effort to cut down on the all night fucking non stop party thats consumed the last month or more of my life, I've put effort into my homebody skills. This includes making vegan chocolate cupcakes and buying pretty flowers, collecting weird branches for the house, and crocheting ropes to decorate with using the most brilliant wool yarn. Anyways, cupcake flowers flowers. Yarn ropes to come soon.

You've Got Light in Your Eyes

For the past few weeks, I have been a dedicated follower of the blog "My Love for You is a Stampede of Horses". Its an amazingly inspirational, thorough and exciting blog featuring artists from all around the country. The blog highlights art shows, artist interviews, and alot of Bay Area work.
When I found out that blog founder Meighan O'Toole was curating a show at Needles And Pens (a mere 2 BLOCKS FROM MY HOME!) I was ecstatic! The show is called "You've Got Light in Your Eyes" and it premiers tomorrow night. Lucky for me, I'm off work at 7 and will be heading straight to the show! If you get a chance to check it out, I strongly advise doing so. The artists that Meighan are featuring are unbelievable...sculptors, painters, drawers, etc. I feel so lucky to have this work so close to my house, and at one of my favourite shops. Its practically making me giddy!
